The Japanese flutist can be heard on the recording Craquelé (WERGO) by F. M. Olbrisch. In 2016, she won first prize for her interpretation of contemporary music at the 7th International Music Competition “Giovani Musicisti-Cittá di Treviso” in Italy as well as at the International Karlsruhe Competition.
Yuri has also received grants from the STIBET Doctorate Program, the DAAD, the Japanese Government’s Agency for Cultural Affairs and the International Ensemble Modern Academy. In 2016, she completed her postgraduate degree (Meisterklassenexamen) in flute under Prof. Irmela Boßler at the University of Music and Theatre Leipzig.
Upon completing this degree, she began teaching at the University of Music and Theatre Leipzig and the Music School of Ore Mountains. She received her Bachelor’s degree in flute from the Tokyo University of the Arts and her Master’s degree under Irmela Bossler at the University of Music and Theatre Leipzig.
As both an ensemble musician and soloist, Yuri performs throughout Europe and East Asia and regularly collaborates with Ensemble Modern Frankfurt.
